Maids of the Lord (Vol. 05)
Jochen-Christoph Kaiser, Rajah Scheepers (Editors)
The protestant sisterhoods of the Kaiserswerther association represent a specific protestant community of living, serving and believing together that does not exist anymore in this fashion. The deaconesses served for about 150 years as a singular example for the tight connection of piety and everyday life within the protestant environment.
You will be given reasons for why the sisterhoods do not exist anymore in the fashion of the Kaiserswerther mother house. This will be discussed from the ecclesiological and sociological perspective. It does not only focus on the 20th century but gives also insight into diaconal living throughout church history.
